Three recommendations made by Eugen Brand, Director general of the International Movement ATD Fourth World, at the end of the Colloquium “Extreme poverty is violence, breaking the silence, searching for peace”
In a short video clip, Eugen Brand, Director general, makes three suggestions to the international community :
- To ask the Nobel Peace Pize Committee to examine ways in which to honour the courage of those who seek to build peace while living in conditions of extreme poverty;
- To include in national constitutions the text of the Stone on the Human Rights Plaza in Paris, France: "Wherever men and women are condemned to live in extreme poverty, human rights are violated. To come together to ensure that these rights be respected is our solemn duty."
- To determine some "Guiding principles for a culture of peace" rooted in overcoming extreme poverty.
